The pre-installed apps include the usual calendar, weather and music playing features. And there is a wide range of watch faces from the sporty to the whimsical to express yourself, or match the huge variety of straps you can buy.
When it comes to health, the heart rate monitor and pedometer are there to track your health and make sure you don’t overexert yourself. The Activity app will track your exercise and encourage you to meet your goals with circles that trigger rewards when you fill them in.
The first-generation watches really struggled with battery life but the Series 3 onward easily will last a day out in the world. Charging is done by a magnetic contact, rather than having to plug anything in. You can buy smart-looking accessory docks that charge your iPhone and Watch together.
The Apple Watch Series 3 is available in 38mm and 42mm sizes, with black or white colour options. Whatever you go for, they do look great on the wrist.
